Vehicle owners take a
shine to the latest colors
Black is this year’s blue. White
is this year’s black. Silver is this year’s white. Every year
brings a new trend in automotive color choices. As demographics
and car models continue to change, so do the preferences of
vehicle owners. SUV and light truck drivers tend toward darker,
assertive colors. Younger drivers look for more flamboyant shades.
And body shops are scrambling to pinpoint the next color trend.
In the past year, silver has surpassed white as the most popular
vehicle color. An arbitrary shift? Think again. Color analysts say
the average consumer associates the color silver with technology.
As new vehicles became more and more advanced, owners opted for a
color to serve outward expression of the technology contained
within the vehicle. And so, the parking lot spectrum was suddenly
silver.
In the coming year, silver will remain strong. But automotive
manufacturers, particularly high-end makes, are beginning to
design a greater number of vehicles with an emphasis on style;
their focus isn’t just on producing a better performing car, but
on distinguishing themselves through their car’s stylish
appearance. As part of these manufacturers’ quest for unique
looks, a variety of new, creative paint styles have become popular
throughout the industry, and are becoming a common sight on the
road.
Many of these auto paints contain new pigments called Xirallics.
Xirallic pigments contain aluminum oxide flakes coated with metal
oxide that create an intense, crystalline effect. The
manufacturers have been able to use these paints to achieve
“special effect” colors; colors that feature a metallic sparkle or
an intensity of color not seen before. These same Xirallics have
also been used to add new layers of depth to white and silvers
used for luxury cars.
The color experts at Nexa Autocolor were able to forecast this
trend, and have responded by introducing three new Nexa Autocolor
Xirallic mixing colors for their 2K Product System: the P433-XR10
Crystal Silver, P433-XR11 Sunbeam Gold and P433-XR12 Radiant Red.
These three colors have already been used to match new automotive
paint colors introduced by the major auto manufacturers. But
versatility is only one of the benefits of these new paints.
Fortunately for body shops, a little bit of Nexa Autocolor’s
Xirallic goes a long way. The P433-XR10 Crystal Silver, P433-XR11
Sunbeam Gold and P433-XR12 Radiant Red are packaged in 330 ml
metal containers, with two containers per case. And that means
optimal color matching while taking up minimal inventory space.
The result is lower costs for stock and inventory - something
every shop will like.
And as far as creating a paint that’s easy to use, Nexa Autocolor
has the right idea. All three paints have been formulated so that
the pigments in them do not settle over time. This eliminates the
need for paint agitation; simply shake the paint cans by hand,
screw on the spout and pour. Its just that simple. (And don’t
worry, Nexa Autocolor can provide the spouts, too.)
In the end these new paints achieve the ultimate special effect -
a stronger bottom line for body shops. Versatile, space-efficient,
and easy-to-use products help simplify the process and increase
throughput. And in the auto paint business, like any business,
increased productivity equals increased profits. Which is what
makes Nexa Autocolor’s P433-XR10 Crystal Silver, P433-XR11 Sunbeam
Gold and P433-XR12 Radiant Red look better and better.
Keeping up on the latest trends in auto colors is a bright idea.
